Huskie Boys Basketball

Our Huskie Boys By:

On January 10th, 2008, our junior varsity boy’s basketball team played against DSST on husky territory. The JV coaches Mr. Carpenter and Cory Bartoli have been drilling the boys in practice to get them ready for the game. They played a great game and put up a fight, but it was not enough to win the game. Their spirits were high and they never lost confidence. The boys had an abundance of energy from the start of the game to the end of the game. They will have to work hard in practice next week, but they can do it. Keep up the hard work and good luck at your next game boys! Later that night our varsity boy’s team played. PC started off strong and finished the game with a win. Coach Carlstrom worked the boys in practice and all their hard work showed in the game. Their offensive and defensive team worked with each other to help lead our team to a victory. The boys passed the ball, communicated with each other, and fought hard for the rebounds. We had a few technical fouls, but I think they boys have learned from that. Good job Varsity boys and good luck at your next game. Keep up the work! We didn’t walk away with a win but we did put up a battle against Clear Creek on January 15th, 2008 at home. The Varsity team consists of Blaze Eisele, Ben Wegener, Cassidy Grigg, Nick Achziger, A.J Melillo, Dom Harris, Karl Griebel, D.J Brown, Daniel Day, Nick Wiford, and Michael Clark. The game was a back and fourth game for the lead. At half time we were up by 5 points with the fans going crazy. We thought that we would walk away with the victory against Clear Creek. It was the top of the fourth quarter and we were still in the lead. Our cheerleaders and fans were so pumped up. The game was neck and neck. Clear Creek got ahead of us by 3 points but PCHS came back. Then we started to foul and that’s when the game turned around for our Husky boys. Clear Creek kept shooting and finally they were in the lead. We could not catch up with the other team. We had scored some points but it was still not enough. The final score was 48 to 57. Even though it was a loss for the boy’s team, they put up a hard fight and never gave up. They pushed there selves to the max. Good job boys and better luck next time! Friday January 18th, 2008 the boy’s basketball team played against the Sheridan Rams. It started out as a slow game but over time action grew. PCHS played hard but it wasn’t good enough to walk away with the win. The final score was 60 to 76. We started the game with us being in the lead. The lead started to go back and fourth between the Huskies and the Rams. Platte lost the lead after the second quarter. After they received a pep talk from Coach Carlstrom, they started to come back. The fans were going nuts; screaming, cheering, jumping up and down for our varsity boy’s. You could feel the intensity as if you were standing on the court. If you looked into one of the players eyes, you could see a little anger and a lot of competitiveness. It was not one of their best played games, but they tried their hardest. Nice job Huskies and good luck at your next game! The boys Varsity basketball team has had a long and hard season so far.
