Girls Swim

PC Swimmers Start off 2008 Successfully
By: Kyle Grabowski

For the few of you that know, we have a girl’s swim team and they have performed well thus far this year. On January 10 the girls won their meet against Englewood 91-86. As far as individual wins went, Haley May won the 200 IM (Individual Medley) with a time of 2:35.46, Sydney Seifert took the 50 Freestyle at 31.44, Jessica Badaracco finished the 100 Butterfly nearly twenty-six seconds ahead of her next competitor as well as prevailing in the 100 Breaststroke, and Katie Ahl finished first in the 100 Backstroke. Both the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle relay were won by the team of Katie Ahl, Jesse Badaracco, Hayley May and Sydney Seifert. In short, out of the ten events, PC won seven. How would one follow up such astounding individual and team success? By placing fourth at the Summit Invitational, that’s how. Both 200 relay teams won as well as Hayley May (200 IM) and Jessica Badaracco (100 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke). It can be depressing to think that we have such as successful team that rarely gets any support. On most nights the gym is filled for volleyball and basketball games while there is rarely room in the football stadium, but what about the pool? It isn’t often that one hears, “Hey are you going to the swim meet tomorrow?” That’s just wrong. We support all of our other sports but not this one. Prove me wrong by supporting the girls at the Husky Invite on Saturday.
