The Gift of Art: Jamie Gleason
By: Harmony Beck

Have you ever wondered why Jamie Gleason’s passion for art is always based on the fantasy and scifi persuasion? As a kid Jamie was sort of a tomboy and found that dinosaurs would be a fun animal to draw; little did she know that it would start one of the biggest parts of who she is. From dinosaurs she became interested in birds, because of the theory that dinosaurs evolved into birds. After birds she started to draw dragons because dinosaurs with wings are dragons. This is how Jamie’s love for fantasy all began. Her life, however, started on September 17, 1989 when she was born to John and Shelly Gleason. She has lived in Bailey her whole life and is just waiting for college to start. Jamie’s after school activities include reading a good book with a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate, playing video games, and watching movies. Jamie gets ideas from the books she reads, the video games she plays and movies she watches to create works of art. For Jamie, art is a major stress reliever and when school gets difficult she can easily fill a sketch book in a month. Each detailed piece of art can take anywhere from a day to a week while smaller and less detailed pieces like a sketch can take her from five minutes to five hours. Art will always be present in Jamie’s life because it is more than a hobby it’s a part of her. Although Jamie’s art is outstanding, her first choice after high school is to start Vet Tech School, and her second option is art school.
